Thanks, Laura, for helping history become more than just words on a page. I intend to go to St. Petersburg and Pushkin(hopefully Tobolsk and Yekaterinberg too) soon, myself. I read Nicholas and Alexandra when I was 12 and my affection for them has never deminished. I like them and understand them, The real people that they were, not the caricatures that they have too often been portrayed as. I truly envy you.

(apologys fo my vey bad english)
Amazing blog! Hope you have great time in Russia and get many geart experiences! Your pictures and videos are so amazing and really capture the essence of the place!

I had a great oppportunity to visit Pushkin last sunday and it was great (although I did'nt get a chance to see the Alexander palace interiors :( ). I did see the Catherine palace and the park (I knew more about the palace and the park then my guide (she didn't know about the ruins of the chinese theatre and when I asked if we dould walk to the AP she said "It's SO FAR AWAY" and when I said "It's that building right over there" she said "oh the AP is THAT building", by the way I was kind of concerned when she said that last thing.). The guide was saying all the time "we have enough time to visit the alexander palace, we have plenty of time to visit it..", but when we got there she told me "sorry we have to leave beacause we have to be at the restaurant in an hour..". So I just took as many photos of the palace as I could and we left. :( (I had like only just few minutes). When I got home I told my dad "gues where I'm going next summer? To see the AP properly!"

Fantastic! You've really captured the total essence of the AP and have done a tremendous job detailing the history and presenting the before and after photos. The video is superb.

The first time I visited the AP, I was so overcome by what was in front of me that I became teary. I know I'll be struck down by lightening bolts for admitting this, but I didn't visit the Catherine Palace, preferring instead to concentrate all my time at the AP and it's grounds. Not once do I regret that decision. Besides, it's truly one of the more intact palaces.

Oh, I want to go to Russia only for being on there. You are very lucky! I don't like how are the rooms now, it's depressing how the Germans and the Soviets let the palace, but I think that is amazing to be in the same place where Nicholas II and his family lived.

Hey it's Marissa/Kuna (video girl =P) I can't tell you how amazing this blog is...and how amazing it is that you're in Russia!!!! It must be so exciting! I have a friend who lives in St. Petersburg...but he's never been one for history. He says he used to visit the Hermitage every 2 days with his mother and he got so sick of it. I WOULD DIE TO VISIT THE HERMITAGE EVERY TWO DAYS...

For some reason I can't stop staring at Tatiana's Uniform...seeing their clothes always takes my breath away...because for the most part their clothes are unchanged. Their home has changed...they're gone...but...they leave things like that behind and it's just so amazing. I'm sorry I'm rambling. =3

This really goes with a different post, but I thought I'd keep it all together for the heck of it. I was looking at the entry about being at their burial place and I remember looking at my boyfriend and telling him if I was in that room my knees would probably buckle under me and he just laughed at me. =P

Anyway I hope the trip is going well. =D It really sounds so fantastic...and busy hehe. =)

These posts are amazing. I love the videos, it helps capture a feel for the size of the rooms, pictures sometimes don't do justice.

Hearing about the Maple Drawing Room made me incredibly sad. I wish I had all the money in the world, kick out whoever owns the place now, and take it over to restore it's original glory.

So sad that such beauty was destroyed. Thanks Stalin. Jerk.

I miss you by the way chicka! I haven't had a chance to talk to you in forever. ♥
